Niche partitioning via host plants and altitude among fruit flies following the invasion of Bactrocera dorsalis

چکیده
Invasions by exotic species in areas already occupied related may lead to extinction or niche partitioning. Bactrocera dorsalis has invaded the Comoros archipelago 2005 where other tephritids were present. The host ranges of fruit flies studied conducting a seven-year survey on three islands with substantial sampling effort comprising 91 plant from 37 families. results showed that 45 16 families infested tephritid species. Eight fly detected sampled fruits, but 78% individuals identified as B. dorsalis, confirming its dominance and polyphagous status. More than ten years after invasion, replaced Ceratitis capitata dominant several such mango citrus. coexistence between C. seems possible due capacity latter exploit different niches, i.e. higher altitudinal few (among which, chillies coffee berries) constituting refuge niche. Information about is useful for management better estimates invasion risks associated biosecurity measures.

Changes in phytophagous insect host ranges following the invasion of their community: Long‐term data for fruit flies
The invasion of an established community by new species can trigger changes in community structure. Invasions often occur in phytophagous insect communities, the dynamics of which are driven by the structure of the host assemblage and the presence of competitors. In this study, we investigated how a community established through successive invasions changed over time, taking the last invasion a...

the aim of this study is to examine the difference between the introverts and extroverts in preferred advice-giving style. furthermore, it explores the difference between l1 (persian) and l2 (english) regarding the giving of advice for the extroverts and introverts separately. it investigates whether an extrovert or introvert gives advice in the same manner in his l1 (persian) and l2 (english) ...
Invasion by Bactrocera dorsalis and niche partitioning among tephritid species in Comoros.
Ten economically important species belonging to the Tephritidae have been recorded in Union of the Comoros (an island nation off the coast of East Africa). Little is known about the distribution of these species and how they are affected by climatic factors in the Comoros archipelago. The main objectives of this study were to characterize: (i) the population dynamics of tephritid fruit flies in...
متن کاملExometabolite niche partitioning among sympatric soil bacteria
Soils are arguably the most microbially diverse ecosystems. Physicochemical properties have been associated with the maintenance of this diversity. Yet, the role of microbial substrate specialization is largely unexplored since substrate utilization studies have focused on simple substrates, not the complex mixtures representative of the soil environment. Here we examine the exometabolite compo...
متن کاملNiche Partitioning Among Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Consequences for Host Plant Performance
We understand little about the factors that determine and maintain local species diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), the reasons why a single plant has multiple AMF partners, and how that diversity influences host plant performance. The extent to which co-occurring AMF species occupy different niche space, based on their ability to tolerate different soil conditions or differential...
